—Read Psalm 46:1 ESV
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Father God,
You are our safe port in the storm. You are our strength when our limbs are weak, limp from fear and fatigue. Thank you. Thank you. When troubles assail us, push us into the corner, and trap us, You are our very present help. We don’t have to wait for You to come. We don’t have to hide until You arrive. You are present. And You remain with us, not ever leaving us.
You walk us through the fire. You are right beside us as we pass through the waters, and Your Presence does not allow the rivers to overwhelm us. Abba, help us run to your refuge, depend on Your strength, and be sure that Your help is immediately available. I pray we will come to understand that you will not leave or abandon us. You may not remove us from the dangerous predicament, but YOU WILL NOT abandon us.
Father, I pray for those who feel trouble’s breath on the back of their neck, and I pray for those trying to push trouble out the door. Father, help them to find refuge in You. May Your strength give them courage and power. And I ask that they be aware of Your Presence and let them be assured that You will remain until the danger has passed and beyond.
In the good name of Jesus. Amen.
